‘Elf’ Christmas Special: ‘Big Bang Theory’ Star Jim Parsons To Sing In 2014 NBC Musical [VIDEOS] Parsons, 41, will be voicing the lead character of Buddy, an elf who travels to New York City in search of his father,in the animated musical. The role was previously portrayed by Will Ferrell, 47, in the 2003 holiday hit. Unlike Ferrells character, Parsons will be putting his vocal chords to the test as he sings throughout the musical-esque special (in an animated elf body), which is partially based on the Broadway adaptation of the film.
